INTRODUCTION Tanzania Women’s Bank PLC (TWB) is a Public Limited Company established under the Company’s Act No. 212 of 2002, with registration number 59271. The bank started operations on 28th July 2009. Its shareholding structure comprises 97% Government and 3% private individuals and entities. Women entrepreneurs sent their request to the government of Tanzania requesting an establishment of an institution that would understand the special and unique challenges which women face when accessing banking services. Also the establishment would be an opportunity for the bank to become a dominant Tanzanian player in this sector. FOCUS TWB is committed to expand its focus to Group Microfinance, to segments of individual microfinance, Small and Medium Enterprises with more emphasis on women customers. In light of this, TWB products have been tailored to accommodate even those that are rejected by other financial service institutions and hence marking the difference between us and others.
