CANSEARCH Foundation
www.cansearch.chThe CANSEARCH Foundation raises funds to support and develop in Geneva research projects for children with cancer or blood diseases and is active in stem cell transplantation. Curing a child with cancer was unimaginable 50 years ago. Today, 80% of affected children can be cured. However, cancer is heterogeneous, the overall cure rate is very different depending of the types of cancer and for some, even today, no therapy exists. Research on childhood cancers should help to identify new treatments, but it should also reduce the long-term side effects due to the toxicity of drugs administered during the radio-chemotherapy treatment of the disease. In collaboration with the "Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève" and the "Centre Médical Universitaire", the CANSEARCH Foundation created the first research platform specifically focused on pediatric oncology-hematology in Geneva. Unique in its kind in Switzerland, this platform is developing projects with the aim of improving the understanding and treatment of children with cancer or blood diseases through individualized therapeutic strategies tailored to their genetic makeup. The current scientific projects led by CANSEARCH are focused on leukemia, neuroblastoma, brain tumors and liver cancer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMo86CX8kto&t=6s
