Since 2009, HealthKeepers Network has worked to bring innovative and sustainable self help solutions that address critical health needs to communities and familes through community empowerment, education & training and our unique distribution system, as they work to build a future of hope, health and dignity. HealthKeepers Network is a Ghanaian owned non-governmental organization that focuses on women and children in rural and underserved areas. HealthKeepers Network (HKN) grew out of Freedom from Hunger’s (FFH) Micro business for Health (MBH) initiative which started in Ghana in 2006. FFH, a nonprofit organization used to be based in Davis, California. FFH merged with Grameen Foundation and both retained the name Grameen Foundation.The passion for the continuation of what FFH started was borne purely out of a desire to see women and children in rural and underserved areas have access to quality life-saving health protection products along with information to sustainably address some critically health conditions. HKN is currently in 35 districts in six regions in Ghana. HKN over the last six years has built the capcity of 3,750 community based agents some of which include entrepreneurial women, community volunteers, over-the-counter medicine sellers, youth (both in-school and out-of-school), and commercial drivers and barbers. These community based agents go to the last mile in delivering carefully selected mix of high impact, reasonably priced health promoting products commodities . Our intervention areas include : 1) Family planning 2) HIV/AIDS prevention 3) Adolescent Reproductive Health 4) Water and Sanitation 5) Livelihood empowerment 6)Child Survival 7) Health promotion 8) Technical Assistance. Overall, HKN envisions healthy families and healthy communities no matter where you find yourself.
