The Rutgers Advanced Technology Extension (RATE), along with the Rutgers BEST Institute, was developed to address the strong demand for entrepreneurial and advanced technology education from a talented pool of graduate students and professionals. Further, the organizations are designed to serve as a mechanism for Rutgers University IP commercialization by providing technologists access to venture capital and business development expertise.
