Each year, a group of high school students participate in a transformational energy/finance focused professional development program consisting of team projects, industry-leading guest speakers, field trips, mentorship, college preparation, and scholarships. Recruitment is focused on students from a range of diverse backgrounds across Houston. Applicants endure a highly competitive selection process consisting of essays, teacher recommendations, and interviews. Since inception in 2013, Atlas Scholars has taken ten classes of students. Once accepted, students are a part of a dynamic three-year program consisting of three one-month summer development programs and year-round mentoring. The program connects students with industry leaders and exposes them to high-pressure, performance-based environments. Students join a lifelong network and go on to become leaders in their communities and careers.
