Věra and Vladimír Machonin were one of the most prominent Czechoslovak architects of the 60s, who managed to build several high quality, western-like buildings in the closed off socialist regime. Our main goal is to save one of their designs, Hotel Thermal in Karlovy Vary, from a disrespectful and a destructive renovation by the state, who owns the building. While we mostly focus on one particular building, we continue to engage with the rest of Machonins' work. As a team of four people we organize lectures, guided tours and public discussions, while actively communicating with the media. Our biggest event is our annual participation in the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. In 2019 we organised two guided tours and a lecture, which were visited by 500 people. In recent years, we have also collaborated with the Czech Chamber of Architects, Czech Centres, Czech Design Week in Prague and other organisations. We regularly present the current situation of Czech post-war architecture at lectures, conferences, Pecha Kucha Nights and other events in the Czech Republic and abroad.
