The resulting product is put to good use by a range of end-users including farmers, soil blenders, commercial gardeners, sports and amenity sector, and house builders. The Cambridgeshire site also processes virgin woodchip from tree surgeons and gardeners to produce a chip which is used in a variety of sources including large scale biomass. Envar is owned by Heathcote Holdings following its acquisition in April 2016. Heathcote Holdings was founded and is chaired by Trevor Heathcote, who established his first composting business in 1996. Envar sits neatly in the Heathcote Holdings portfolio alongside Countrystyle Recycling, a leading resource management and recycling company.
