Caravan to Class is a registered 501(c)3 charitable organization that seeks to bring education to villages in Timbuktu and the Southern Sahara Desert. We imagine a world where no matter where a child lives, the fundamental right of education is assured. Caravan to Class began in 2010 with a commitment to rebuild the educational infrastructure in the village of Tedeini, Mali. Inspired by the immediate success of this first school, Caravan to Class is building its capacity and outreach to replicate our efforts to educate children in the surrounding villages. As of 2013, Caravan to Class has built and supports the operations of eight schools in the region of Timbuktu, Mali, paying for teachers' salaries, and providing food, books and school supplies. In total, Caravan to Class educates more than 1,000 children each year, ages 6 - 12 years.
