Green Power Nueva Ecija Philippines Inc., ("GPNEPI") is developing two 17.5 MW Biomass Power Plants in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija on the Island of Luzon in the Philippines. Ground breaking of the project will be held in October 2009 and a contract for the project was signed in Zurich with Poyry Energy (Owners Engineers) on April 10th 2009. (www.poyry.com) The project will utilize agricultural waste and deliver cost effective, decentralized energy to the island. Utilization of Nueva Ecija's agricultural waste will provide significant additional income to the local farming and host communities reducing poverty and stimulating agricultural production. Electricity to be sold under the Philippines Renewable Energy Act through the Renewable Energy Bill's Feed-in-Tarrif and theVisayas Grid via WESM. The GPNEPI is now fully permitted (including Board of Investments Registration, Environmental Compliance Certificate, Department of Energy endorsement). The company owns their project site and the main equipment has now been bid and is under final evaluation by GPNEPI Owners Engineers - Poyry Energy Inc.
