HAS+ was founded out of necessity when Founding Director, Sally O’Shea was working at an equipment hire business with a requirement for a system which managed the company’s invoicing, scheduling and quoting needs. No off the shelf package met this requirement, so Sally developed a simple MS Access system to fulfill this need. By 2015, it was clear that the underlying technology was inadequate to support the growing needs of the business and a complete rewrite was required. After rigorously reviewing both internationally and nationally available off the shelf packages, it became clear that these packages didn’t manage all of the aspects of equipment hiring, servicing, invoicing and consumables management and furthermore required users to laboriously process transactions one by one rather than providing full powerful automation of repetitive tasks. Sally investigated migrating the old system to a state-of-the-art new platform. It quickly became clear that the cost and time involved was too onerous to be supported by one business and Sally agreed to develop the software for the business on the basis that she would be able to market to the software to third parties after an agreed timeframe. After successfully raising finance to fund the idea and researching the specific operational and financial requirements of a wide variety of hire and service businesses, Sally spent the next three years developing the system and rolling it out in modular phases. The last module was rolled out in December 2018, and in early 2019, HireAndService.com was launched. Customers responded enthusiastically to the switch to digital proof of deliveries and improved query response times. Processing time fell by 30% allowing staff to focus on problem solving instead of data capture. The business has grown from strength to strength, adding exciting new features every year including automated routing, qr scanning and online ordering.
