International Flow Arts Day was created in 2017 by Christel Lautel, in Marseille, France. As the project for nonprofit sports association, Hoop de Mars's participation in Marseille Provence Capital Européenne du Sport. IFAD is an initiative to help hooping and flow arts to become internationally recognized as sports activities. International Flow Arts Day, now home-based in Geneva, Switzerland. Under the banner of Hoop Fitness Genève, it is the association's flagship annual event. IFAD celebrates fitness, movement meditation, and fellowship through flow arts. It is held globally on the third Saturday in June. On this day, flow artists and prop manipulators come together to share our passion for fitness through flow arts with the communities in which we live. To enjoy a day of community, fun, and skill-sharing. Because we believe the practice of flow arts improves one's sense of well-being, promotes a healthier lifestyle, and openness to others. With more than 50 ambassadors, International Flow Arts Day has been celebrated in 12 countries and 23 cities worldwide.
