The Center for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (CAIM) is an initiative of the University of Bern and the Inselspital, Bern University Hospital, partnered by the University Psychiatry Services and the Swiss Institute for Translational and Entrepreneurial Medicine, sitem-insel. We use AI to facilitate the work of doctors and nurses and to deliver better care to patients. CAIM capitalizes on the unique constellation in Bern that joins players from the scientific, healthcare and industry domains. By bundling transdisciplinary know-how, we promote projects with the potential to be groundbreaking for digital healthcare and show a clear path towards patient benefit. CAIM provides important insights, evaluation and perspective on the challenges of introducing novel AI technologies into clinical care. We translate cutting-edge research into tools for clinicians and healthcare professionals, foster commercialization of AI technology innovation and support start-up incubation.
