Nicholsons was established in 1979 by Roderick Nicholson, who was joined by his son, Niel, in 1992. Today Nicholsons has three divisions offering high quality, garden design, landscaping, forestry and horticultural services to Oxfordshire and surrounding counties. Nicholsons employs around 170 qualified and professional staff to manage their annual turnover of approximately £10 million. We actively encourage training for all staff members to ensure new skills and competencies are acquired, and fully advocate Continuous Professional Development at all levels. Nicholsons currently recycles 100% of wood waste that provides heat and hot water for our offices. We have a large PV array to generate our own electricity and we collect rainwater for irrigation use. We have recently introduced an exciting new initiative into our professional services to ensure each of our projects are as environmentally friendly and beneficial as possible. Our Ecology Rating Award (E.R.A) used to evaluate each of our projects against a carefully developed grading system, covering a range of elements affecting environmental impact including material management, planting considerations, wildlife, conservation and water management. Approved contractors of the Arboricultural Association, Nicholsons are also accredited with CHAS and Safe-contractor. The Company are also members of the BALI and were recently awarded with both the Cherwell, and the Oxfordshire, Large Business of the Year awards for 2019.
