Western Science, otherwise known as the Faculty of Science at Western University in southwestern Ontario, brings science to life. One of the original three faculties, Western Science has advanced the scientific frontier through research and training for more than 130 years. Our eight departments are filled with the curiosity, vision and expertise of 194 researchers and instructors spanning myriad disciplines, from the actuarial sciences, applied mathematics, data analytics and computer science to geophysics and planetary science, environmental science, cellular biology, genetics, synthetic chemistry, and medical physics. We include among our alumni the father of the Canadian space program, John H. Chapman, the first Canadian woman to go to space, Roberta Bondar, Keith Barron, a geologist and serial entrepreneur, Linda Hasenfratz, industrialist, member of the Canadian Business Hall of Fame, Member of the Order of Canada and Western’s 23rd Chancellor; just a few examples from a global group of leaders who have leveraged their Western Experience to change the world.
