When Lahiru and Murtaza set out to build Takas.lk in late 2012 with a scrappy team of 3 & a sliver of seed money, we wanted to revolutionize the e-commerce market in Sri Lanka. But, there weren’t any fulfilment systems that were flexible enough to handle our unique & fast changing managed marketplace model. Neither could we afford to customize an enterprise solution - so we did everything manually. When Kalinga our CTO joined us in 2014, he started building small tools that helped automate respective functions. From a few tools this tech morphed into a full suite of e-commerce fulfilment modules that power our whole operation, over the next four years.. After mentioning our tech as a footnote of an investment pitch, word started to spread and we started getting requests to license the platform (including competitors, shhh!). We realized we were onto something and TES was born!
