TheirStory

www.theirstory.io

TheirStory's (www.theirstory.io) mission is to create tools, services, and curriculum that empower communities to take ownership of their own narrative. We do this through partnerships and technology. TheirStory provides a web-based interviewing and storytelling platform that helps institutions, researchers, families, and special interest groups streamline the process of collecting, preserving, and engaging with the audiovisual stories of their communities. Among the communities who use TheirStory are the Peace Corps Oral History Project, the University of Kentucky's Louie B. Nunn Center for Oral History, the Council of American Jewish Museums, American University, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, the Armah Institute of Emotional Justice/The Black Frontline and the Chickaloon Native Village of the Ahtna Tribe in Southcentral Alaska. TheirStory partners with Aviary (aviaryplatform.com) for searchability/accessibility of audiovisual materials as well as automated transcription and transcript editing. This enables search across an entire audiovisual collection down to the moment in a specific recording when a word is spoken or topic discussed. TheirStory partners with Permanent.org for preservation.
