Founded in 2015, the society seeks to establish a community within the faculty and connect all students from the faculty's 13 diverse programs: Arts and Contemporary Studies; Criminology; English; Environment and Urban Sustainability; Geographic Analysis; History; International Economics and Finance; Language and Intercultural Relations; Philosophy; Politics and Governance; Psychology; Sociology; Undeclared Arts Our three pillars: Academia SASSH aims to provide the students within the Faculty of Arts with more resources and learning opportunities that go beyond the classroom. We want to encourage student excellence by providing the necessary tools for success. This includes project funding, mentorships, career developing workshops, technical skills and more! Professionalism SASSH creates a platform through which Arts students can begin to build connections with corporations and industries in the downtown core of Toronto and the GTA. We want Arts students to establish a strong network, which would guide students to more career options and opportunities. SASSH will curate alumni and foster further connections to link Arts students to relevant professionals and work fields. Reputation We also focus on increasing the reputation of the Faculty of Arts at TMU. First, within the faculty - done by means of connecting and engaging Arts students to create a sense of community and pride. Second, within the university - through giving Arts students the outlet through which their voice will be heard and their needs will be addressed. And lastly, within the GTA - we want to promote the Faculty of Arts and our student excellence in and outside the Ryerson community.
