Meds on Wheels
www.medsonwheels.orgMeds on Wheels is a Dutch foundation aimed at providing surgery on a worldwide level. Our mobile theatres are fully equipped with the most advanced medical equipment and with a laminar flow system. This mobile theatre is ‘self-supporting’, and can be used in almost every area under the most difficult circumstances. Medical organisations, private organisations or NGO’s working in the field, can use our mobile theatres for a short or long period in remote areas to reach people in need. The mobile theatre can also be used to temporarily support a hospital for a period that can vary from one day up to one year. Why a Mobile Theatre Meds on Wheels provides western surgery technology throughout the world. Non-profit and local medical organisations can use this technology so that they don’t have to build hospitals or upgrade their theatres. Most theatres in development countries are old, worn, and used for only a few hours a week. It would be a waste of money to build new theatres here that would only cover a small area. Mobile theatres will cover a much larger area and will be removed once they are not needed anymore. This way a larger amount of the population will be able to benefit from it and therefore the investment is maximised. Mobile theatres can be used in the most remote areas, so that sick or disabled people do not have to travel hours or days to get medical help. Also, in case of need, the mobile theatres can be used in the Western world as well. The profits we make in the Western world will be used to send mobile theatres to developing countries.
