The Energy Behind PŪR Tina Abraham studied her teacher training as a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher at the internationally acclaimed Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society, at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Oasis Institute. She completed professional training with teachings from Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn and Dr. Saki Santorelli. Trained by Mindful Schools Org. to teach the Mindfulness in Schools Project course for adolescents ages 11-17, considered the gold standard curriculum for young people and is endorsed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn. Other credentials include a BA in Art and communication and certified Aromatherapist. She offers a unique holistic perspective for integrative and preventative wellness. By learning to take better care of ourselves, harmonizing body and mind, and realizing our strength and resilience- we can lead healthier more adaptive lives. The best possible medical care begins with self-care. Her interest in the dharma and meditation began more than 17+ years ago. She is a student of Vipassana (Insight) meditation. She has continued to deepen her practice, broaden her experience, and sharpen her skills by participating in mindfulness meditation retreats and teacher trainings with auspicious meditation masters from both the East and the West such as Thich Nhat Hanh, Bhante Henepola Gunaratana, Ram Dass, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Christina Feldman, Sharon Salzberg, and with Wong Gong- Won Buddhism in Chapel Hill, NC. Tina has been a long-time fitness-minded individual and understands the importance of a healthy mind and body. She has practiced yoga and meditation for years in addition to being a competitive triathlete. Tina understands the perils in the corporate world and professionally, she has 20 + years experience in the corporate landscape in sports marketing, operations, education, real estate and human resources with successful companies such as Nike, Planet Hollywood, and Coldwell Banker. Tina has a broad background and has actively participated in many endeavors benifiting her community. Tina has been a contemplative artist (oil painting) for 27+ years and enjoys sharing with the community the process of contemplation while creating. In these mindfulness meditations Tina will assist you to discover states of peace, balance, equanimity and contentment as you explore states of awareness. These meditations hold a container for you to have greater clarity, calm, and acceptance so that no matter what is going on in your life you can be there fully supporting yourself. Research has shown that these mindfulness meditations are associated with increases in happiness, self acceptance, and life satisfaction as well as reduced feelings of anxiety, stress, and depression.
