The Supreme Council for Women was established on 22nd August 2001, It is considered the reference for all official bodies in regards to women affairs. It has jurisdiction to express opinion and to consider direct and indirect matters related to the position of women and whose opinion should be sought by all official authorities before taking any action or decision in this regard. Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa chairs the council which includes not less than 16 members, representing public female figures experienced in women's affairs and various related activities. انشأ المجلس الأعلى للمرأة، في الثاني والعشرين من أغسطس2001، ويعتبر المجلس المرجع لجميع الجهات الرسمية فيما يتعلق بشئون المرأة، ويختص في إبداء الرأي والبت في الأمور المرتبطة بمركز المرأة بصفة مباشرة أو غير مباشرة، وعلى كافة الجهات الرسمية أخذ رأي المجلس الأعلى للمرأة قبل اتخاذ أي إجراء أو قرار بذلك. ترأس صاحبة السمو الملكي الأميرة سبيكة بنت إبراهيم آل خليفة المجلس والذي يتكون من عدد لا يقل عن (16) عضوا من الشخصيات النسائية العامة وذوات الخبرة في شئون المرأة والأنشطة المختلفة المتعلقة بهذا الشأن.
