The Medford Sunrise Rotary Club first met in March of 2010, and was chartered on October 18, 2010 with 22 members. The club meets on Wednesday mornings at 7:15am at the Medport Diner on Route 70 in Medford, New Jersey. Meetings are a combination of congenial fellowship, planning and brainstorming service projects locally and worldwide, and interesting speakers - and of course breakfast! The club regularly participates in preparing meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House, collecting needed supplies and goodies for service people overseas, and raising money and sending volunteers overseas to aid in the Rotary-led fight to eliminate Polio worldwide. Medford Sunrise Rotary is responsible for planning and organizing the Annual Dickens Festival, a fun filled family event that transforms Historic Main Street in Medford each December. Medford Sunrise also produces and distributes the Medford Community Calendar, an invaluable resource for Medford residents and local businesses. Rotary International is the world's first service club organization, with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self.
