King County Search and Rescue Association

King County Search and Rescue volunteers are ready to respond when people find themselves in imminent danger or distress, such as when a hiker gets lost or injured, an Alzheimer’s disease patient wanders away from home or flooding strikes. With over 600 volunteers, King County Search and Rescue is the largest search and rescue organization in Washington state. We respond to more than 160 calls a year, both in and outside of our county. In 2014, we completed 134 missions, volunteered almost 19,000 mission hours, and drove more than 180,000 miles. We’re a 501(c)(3) non-profit, funded 100% by generous donations–we do not receive any money from taxes. We are proudly 100% volunteer, and we provide our services at no cost to citizens of King County. King County Search and Rescue volunteers are dispatched and supervised by the King County Sheriff's Office. King County Search and Rescue Association was incorporated on February 1, 1965, though some of our member units were started in 1954.
