Le Dîner en Blanc Chicago was created in 2012 by like-minded Chicago friends who had lived in and experienced the original Dîner en Blanc in Paris, created in 1988 . Organized by The White Basement, a local non-profit company, Le Dîner en Blanc Chicago has grown year after year to become a Chicago institution, bringing together friends, old and new, for a magical night out under the stars. Past locations have included the Art Institute of Chicago, the Lincoln Park Zoo Nature Boardwalk, Queen's Landing and the newly renovated and re-opened park at Theater on the Lake. WHAT IS LE DINER EN BLANC? Le Dîner en Blanc is like no other event in the world. Thousands of people assemble throughout the city with no idea where the event will be held. A small group of trusted volunteers lead the groups by coach, trolley, El or on foot to the final secret location. Once they arrive at the final venue, thousands of people, dressed all in white and conducting themselves with the greatest decorum, elegance and etiquette meet in a public space that has been transformed for one night only into a mass chic picnic.
