Jbaysurfhouse
www.jbay-surfhouse.comA passion fueled charitable initiative in development. Follow our process to realize our dream to open a safe place for kids in JBay, South Africa Many children in the township of Jeffreys Bay spend their days on the street because of a lack of activities, they don’t have enough money to go to school and basically have not much to dream of regarding their future. We want to create this safe environment where these children can go when needed, where they can be together, play together, learn to share and of course, learn to surf! Hopefully, this will give the children some perspective and a chance for them to dream as well. To accomplish our goal, we have gathered a team of six volunteers; four enthusiastic Dutchies, a girl from Germany and, most importantly, Jimeal from Jeffreys Bay who knows the situation of the children like no other. He will look after the surf house and give surf lessons to the children. Our project was inspired by the story of our surf instructor, Jimeal, who was born and raised in the township of JBay. When he was 7 years old he, together with many children from the area, got the chance to go to a surf house from Aleph, the organisation that made it possible. This was a life-changing opportunity, the children found hope and perspective. Among other things, they were taught how to surf, and that became Jimeal’s passion. Now his dream, which also became ours, is to help the next generation in Jeffreys Bay. This led to our project of creating such an environment for the children, ‘Jbay surf house’. We are stoked to be sharing the process of making this project happen from start to finish. Further details will follow shortly, so stay tuned! 💪🏼
