High Tech Connect brings exposure to start-up, non-profit and hiring organizations to facilitate an interconnected IT community. General networking events tend to alienate more introverted talent and traditional technical deep dives don't do a good job at facilitating connections. We created a monthly event that facilitates learning and networking under one roof. We are symposium style, charging sponsor organizations to allow them a pitch to our attendees and a table to interact. We also started Tech Prep, which is designed to help people land the job they want or get the career guidance they need, in a judgment-free place. We attract members with food, drinks, and the opportunity to interact with six to eight different technology-based companies, most of which are located in the Tampa Bay area, all within a relaxed environment with peers. While attendees range from college students to c-level executives, company pitches are tailored to be community-focused. This format allows for all audience members to gain value, whether through career advice, job openings, company partnerships, service offerings, or volunteer opportunities.
