The University of Bayreuth is a place of international research promoting interdisciplinary cooperation. The University has defined nine research priorities which are co-ordinated and currently upgraded in its Research Centers. These are: High pressure and high temperature research, Macromolecular Science (Polymer Science) and Colloid Science (Nanoparticle Science), Ecology and Environmental Sciences, Materials Science and Engineering, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Molecular Bioscoences), Nonlinear Dynamics, African Studies, Intercultural Studies, Development of Legal Culture and the Economy.
