Advancing talent in Canada's screen industry since 1997. Primarily focused on mid-career women directors of screen fiction, the Women In the Director's Chair (WIDC) offers professional development programming, including cash and in kind prizes and awards for feature films directed by Canadian women. Each year through WIDC specially designed modular programs delivered across Canada, twenty mid-career women directors are selected to develop their director's craft and the screen fiction projects (e.g. shorts, features, TV, web series) they are planning to direct by working with seasoned mentors, professional (ACTRA) actors and (DGC/IATSE) crews. WIDC receives major funding from Telefilm Canada, ACTRA, IATSE, IPF, and collaborates with the Whistler Film Festival, St John's International Women's Film Festival, Female Eye Film Festval (Toronto), and WITF's Vancouver International Women In Film Festival.
