Water is Life Kenya
www.waterislifekenya.comWater is Life Kenya is a 501(c)3 which works with communities in Southern Kenya to improve access to clean water and management of clean water resources as a stepping stone escape poverty. We have worked in and around Amboseli National Park since 2007, bringing water to over 55,000 people and their livestock. Learn more about our projects at https://waterislifekenya.com Our water projects have a central focus on building up people to be strong partners and leaders in community water projects. Our programs are: I. Clean water and sanitation and hygiene 2. income generation through improved livestock keeping - Our Livestock as a Business Program, 3. Income generation and revenue stream for WILK through our Fair Trade Certified Handicrafts business. Our very strong focus has been on making sure that our communities can manage their projects by 1) requiring community buy-in from the beginning, 2) doing capacity building training for the water management committees and 3) to strengthen people's incomes. Our Livestock as a Business program trains livestock keepers living in our project areas. More income to families means their water stays on line, their children stay in school and there is enough food. In addition, children, adults and livestock all are healthier drinking clean water.
