Moore Archeological Consulting

www.moore-archeological.com

Dr. Roger G. Moore initiated an independent archeological consulting practice based in Houston, Texas, in 1982. Moore Archeological Consulting, (MAC) has grown to offer its clients comprehensive services in cultural resource management (CRM). CRM encompasses archeological and historical studies required by state and federal law to determine whether construction projects such as roads, pipelines, parks, etc., will affect significant archeological and historical sites. Archeological and historic structure surveys are first conducted to determine whether any significant sites are ‘in harm’s way.’ In the rare instances when impact upon a significant archeological site is unavoidable the firm conducts controlled excavations to gather information prior to the site’s destruction. MAC possesses special expertise in completing archeological investigations in urban contexts, one of Dr. Moore’s pioneering research interests. The solid academic background and extensive field experience of the expanded staff is combined with a business-like approach to the problems and objectives of cultural resource management consulting. Senior members of the firm are experienced in working as members of planning and design phase project teams. Services Offered The skilled MAC staff is familiar with the conditions for the successful fulfillment of Federal and State archeological compliance requirements. MAC can provide the necessary range of cultural resource services to satisfy Section 106, Texas Antiquities Code, Federal Environmental Assessment and Impact Statements, and US Army Corps of Engineers Permit requirements for most projects. These services encompass archeological survey, site testing and mitigation, construction monitoring, historical research, and geoarcheology. The firm exhibits particular expertise in the specialized sub-discipline of Conflict Archeology, and recently expanded to include historic structures, remote sensing, and underwater archeology.
