www.ncianet.orgNCIA’s Herbert J Hoelter Vocational Training Center (VTC) opened in Baltimore in 2017 to provide vocational training and support services to veterans, returning citizens, and low-income individuals. Its mission is to equip participants with marketable skill sets to foster career opportunities. The VTC has expanded to include centers in Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Raleigh and Charlotte. The VTC has served more than 1,600 individuals to date. VTC programs include automotive repair, commercial driver’s license Class B, small unmanned aerial systems (drone), HVAC/R, and culinary arts. In each vocational track, upon successful completion, participants receive an industry-recognized credential to assist with job attainment. In addition to the 15-week vocational training program, the VTC provides a comprehensive approach to workforce development with its Workforce Development Institute. Supported by individualized case management, the VTC addresses the life-threatening barriers to success that exist in the most underserved members of our community, and provides up to 12 months of additional support as needed after completion of the program. The VTC maintains a 75% employment rate with an average hourly wage of $18.15 - gainful employment is the number one mission of the VTC.
