Between Land Architects is a Central Iowa Landscape Architecture studio established by Principal Douglas M. Rooney. We are driven by the idea that Landscape Architecture occupies a unique position in the built environment as a complex distillation of art, architecture, botany, ecology, civil engineering, urban planning, traffic engineering, environmental mediation and climate manipulation...all with a healthy dose of public policy and a dash of sheer diplomacy. Our goal is to define the exterior spaces of the built environment in a manner that creates a "sense of place" and fills the interstices of cities with a "mortar" of landscapes informed by cultural needs and imbued with soul nurturing beauty.
