Over 10 million tonnes of hazardous dust waste are generated from the steel recycling industry every year. This contains over $4 Billion USD of zinc. Yet at least half is still landfilled, and the remainder is recycled in an expensive and carbon intensive process. This produces zinc with twice the CO2 footprint as mined zinc. Zincovery, is a New Zealand based startup which is developing an efficient and environmentally friendly technology to revolutionize the zinc recycling industry.
