Powerjam Band Project
www.powerjambands.comPowerjam is a not-for-profit project and charity that offers young musicians ages 11- 18, the opportunity to form and join gigging Rock & Pop bands taking into consideration, style, skill, age, and genre. DBS checked music industry professionals channel their knowledge of recording, gigging, and working with domestic and international artists, into providing young musicians with the optimum band experience that includes weekly rehearsals, mentoring, managing, promoting, and booking its young bands for regular public gigs. Band songs are also developed, recorded, marketed, and released on all streaming platforms. The experience of “band life” in this highly creative yet safe environment, allows both serious young musicians the opportunity to promote and further their musical aspirations, and young musicians who simply wish to connect, create, and perform with others, an exciting social and educational environment. With quality music (making) as its medium, Powerjam’s mission is to provide the support and infrastructure that allows budding musicians of varying backgrounds to naturally gain confidence and self-esteem both on and off stage, doing what they love – key (we believe) to becoming happy adults. A highly personalised and quality service is made possible through a combination of volunteer work, donations, parental contributions and in-kind support from AFC (Richmond Council’s Achieving For Children). From rehearsals and gigs to recording and releasing their music, band members learn important life skills at young ages: accountability, how to work closely and creatively with others, and the importance of hard work whilst developing musically and having a great time!
