Every year since 2011, OperaMaya hosts an International Summer Music Festival bringing together the top professionals from the world of classical music with the stars of tomorrow- debuting the winner of its annual Composition Competition for new works in a Mayan Language- and assisting with the career development of young artists via its: Young Artist Program, Emerging Artists Program, Choral Program, Festival Orchestra, and Collaborative Piano Programs. Together with guest artists from across the globe- the OperaMaya International Summer Music Festival is two weeks and over 14 free events of world-class performances throughout the Yucatán Peninsula. Since 2017, the addition of a sister festival, ¡Viva!, Maya Culture Festival, held the last week of February in Bloomington, IN has completed the mission of not only bringing opera to the region of the Maya but also bringing the Maya, to the home of opera. The OperaMaya Foundation also includes the OperaMaya Regional Opera, and the OperaMaya Young Artist Development and Career Advancement Group.
