Northern Ireland Film & Television School

www.serc.ac.uk

The Northern Ireland Film & Television School re-launched at Bangor's SERC Campus in 2015. It provides a part-time HNC in film & Television Production and an optional additional top-up HND year. Due to the part-time nature of the delivery (over two full days a week), it appeals to mature students and career changers hoping to develop new skills that will allow them to embark on a new and rewarding career in Northern Ireland's thriving film and television industry. It also appeals to school leavers coming from a Moving Image Arts A-level or Foundation course in Creative Media... most students are eligible for full-funding meaning that two years at NIFTS (the equivalent of the first two years of a degree) are completely free. NIFTS has a direct link with Edinburgh Napier which allows HND graduates to gain direct entry into the 3rd year of their award winning BA in Television Production degree - this equates to a half-price degree. Units studied include Cinematography, Film Studies, Documentary Filmmaking, Drama Production, Screenwriting, Producer/Director and Editing Techniques... with continued investment in Northern Ireland's screen industries, this is an exciting time to be embarking on a new career challenge. NIFTS courses are delivered via blended learning (masterclasses, industry visits, live productions, lectures) by a team of highly skilled industry practitioners who aim to prepare all students for industry. Graduates can now be found across NI and the UK, working in roles as varied as Runner , Editor and Production Coordinator to Assistant Director, Camera and Producer. We're also extremely proud of the number of students that have progressed onto NI Screen's prestigious Producer Trainee Schema, Aim High... as well as their successes on the Festival Circuit and Annual Industry Awards (collective winners of the Creative Media Student of the Year Award and winners of the Royal Television Society NI Student Awards in the Drama Category 2020 & 2021).
