The Morgantown History Museum is a nonprofit institution and the first city-sponsored museum in the Greater Morgantown area in West Virginia. Our mission is to preserve and promote local and regional history and to make it accessible to the citizens of Morgantown and visitors to the region. The museum has been in operation at its current location 175 Kirk Street in Morgantown since 2011. The museum features artifacts and exhibits ranging from prehistory of the area through the 1980's. The Morgantown History Museum also features rotating exhibits every few months that highlight different areas of interest from the greater Morgantown area. The museum is always looking for volunteers to assist with the day to day functions and operations. If you are interested in volunteer work contact us or stop in! As of January 2015 we have been accepted into the Museum Assessment Program which through guided self-study and on-site consultation with a museum professional, participation in MAP will empower the Morgantown History Museum to provide better services to the citizens of Morgantown. This will help the museum to meet and exceed the highest professional standards.
