Gorongosa National Park

Gorongosa National Park, in Mozambique, is Africa’s greatest wildlife restoration story. Restoration of one of Africa's greatest national parks is through a 30-year public-private partnership between the Mozambican government and the Gorongosa Restoration Project, a U.S. non-profit organization. Approach By adopting a 21st Century conservation model of balancing the needs of wildlife and people, we are protecting and saving this beautiful wilderness, returning it to its rightful place as one of Africa’s greatest parks. We are achieving our mission by working in four core areas: Tourism: Every guest that visits Gorongosa plays a vital role in this amazing conservation effort, and in the process, creates jobs for local people and helps generate sustainable revenue for the Park. Conservation: Protecting Gorongosa's beautiful animals and landscapes helps us make sure future generations have a chance to experience this special place. Science: Studying how all the parts of Gorongosa’s complex web of life fit together enables us to make informed conservation and management decisions. Community: Providing support and assistance to farmers, educational programs, and health care, helps us improve the well-being of local communities.
