diversity.umn.eduThe Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence is a student support office that centers students of color and students from historically underrepresented and marginalized backgrounds in the pursuit of their academic achievements. Many students have stated that they feel welcomed, supported, and validated at Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence. Some of the programs and services offered focus on: Outreach MCAE Kick-Off, which is a two-day early immersion event designed to assist first-year students of color, indigenous students and first-generation students in successfully transitioning to the University of Minnesota. Student Success Tutoring in writing, languages (Korean, Spanish, Ojibwe, Dakota, etc.), biology, math, business, and other subjects. Students may drop in at any time and there is no time limit. Engagement Living Learning Communities (LLCs) are interest-and/or identity-specific residence halls/floors designed to provide students with integrated experiences in both academic and social learning through faculty/staff involvement.
