Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) is a global leader in innovative new energy technologies, founded in 2011 in Ningde, China. Our main business is the manufacture and sale of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles. In this, we were the global market leader for the fifth consecutive year in 2021. As part of this project, we are creating 2,000 jobs for skilled workers with a wide range of qualifications. Thuringia's central location and very good infrastructure enable us to produce close to our customers - this results in more intensive customer relationships, increased delivery reliability and, at the same time, savings in CO2 and transport costs. We also promote research and further development of battery technology in Chinese-German cooperation - one driver of this is the "Battery Innovation and Technology Center (BITC)" at Erfurter Kreuz.
