Foster Care Support Foundation
www.fostercares.orgFoster Care Support Foundation provides free clothing, toys, infant equipment, books, school supplies, and other basic care items to newborns through teens in Georgia who are in foster care or who have been placed with a grandparent or other relative to keep them out of foster care. Foster Care Support collects donations of new and gently used items and distributes the items at no cost to the children and families served. Everything children receive from Foster Care Support stays with them whether they are adopted, reunified, or move to a relative’s home. Although foster families receive a stipend to purchase basic care items, the stipend does not cover all costs. In addition, grandparents and other relatives who take in children to keep them out of foster care do not usually receive any financial support. Many relative caregivers are seniors who live on fixed incomes and were not expecting to raise the next generation of children. Foster Care Support serves grandparents and other relative caregivers to help offset the cost of caring for unexpected children and keep families intact. As the number of children in foster and relative care continues to grow, Foster Care Support is expanding the program to serve even more children throughout every county Georgia.
