Iota Capital Management, LLC is a student run investment fund at The University of Texas at Austin. Due to their large investment fund, they have the opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of asset classes. They look to model a well diversified portfolio that includes exposure to equities and fixed income securities, as well as alternative investments such as commodities and real estate. They strive to seek opportunities that hedge against global systematic risk, which can offer them the ability to beat the market in the long term. Their analysts are divided up and specialize in nine different major sectors so that we can gain specialized coverage over those areas in the economy. Our sector coverage is broad and includes Energy, Natural Resources, Healthcare, TMT, FIG, Industrials, Real Estate, Consumer & Retail, and Utilities. Their analysts are designed to give their recommendations on the overweight and underweight of their overall sector and individual securities within the portfolio. Their senior analysts are tasked to periodically review the performance of the portfolio. Special recommendations are made when our team believes rebalancing is necessary. Adjustments are made when we believe that we are over or under exposed to a set of asset classes or sectors. Using regression and portfolio optimization techniques, they are able to guide our future investment decisions and hedge against the risk of our speculative positions.
