Gilt Edge Fire Department
www.giltedgefire.comFounded in 1986, the Gilt Edge Volunteer Fire Department provides service to the Towns of Gilt Edge and Burlison as well as an unincorporated area of Tipton County, Tennessee. The department's primary response area is 41 square miles and has a population of just over 4,000 people. Our automatic aid territory is 122 square miles for a total response area of 163 square miles that covers a little under half of the county. The 100% professional volunteer staff operates out of a single station, responding to approximately 550 calls annually with two front-line engines, one tanker, and a mini pumper/rescue. Members of The Gilt Edge Volunteer Fire Department are trained to standards outlined in NFPA 1001 for Firefighter I & II and NFPA 472/1072 for HazMat Awareness & Operations. Drivers/Engineers are trained to the standards outlined in NFPA 1002. Officers of the department are required to meet the standards outlined in NFPA 1021 and 1041 for the position that they are appointed. The Department values tradition and service above self and believes in intelligently aggressive operations to protect life and property. Members are expected to live by what we refer to as the Big 4: 1. Do your job. 2. Treat people right. 3. Give all-out effort. 4. have an all-in attitude.
