Gloucester Township is a township in Camden County, New Jersey, United States. Gloucester Township is made up of a cluster of neighborhoods that make it one of the fastest growing municipalities in Southern New Jersey. As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 64,634 people, 23,566 households, and 16,873 families residing in the township. The township ranked as the 19th most-populous municipality in the state in 2010. The Gloucester Township Police Department responds to nearly 60,000 calls for service each year; this is an average of 5,000 calls per month. Our department consists of over 134 full-time sworn law enforcement officers, 38 special law enforcement officers, 18 telecommunicators, and 13 civilian employees. The Department is commanded by Chief David J. Harkins, who has been a police officer in Gloucester Township since 1995. Under the oversight of Chief Harkins, the police department is split into three divisions: the Operations Division, Administrative Services Division, and the Community Services Division. Each division is commanded by a Captain of Police. There are two Deputy Chief’s of Police, who assists Chief Harkins in overall agency operations. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township had a total area of 23.260 square miles. It is well served by the North/South Freeway (Rt. 42), the Black Horse Pike, and numerous well-maintained County and Municipal roads. In fact, as of May 2010, the township had a total of 239.44 miles of roadways. The municipal complex is located at 1261 Chews Landing Road, Gloucester Township, NJ 08012.
