Ronald McDonald House South Island is an independent Charitable Trust whose mission is to provide free accommodation and support to families of children suffering illnesses that require hospital treatment in Christchurch and Invercargill. Ronald McDonald House South Island operates three facilities: Ronald McDonald House South Island in Christchurch Ronald McDonald Family Room, Christchurch Hospital Ronald McDonald Family Room, Southland Hospital We support families of children up to the age of 18 and they are never charged for their stay, regardless of whether it is one night, or many months. Since opening our doors we have had the privilege of serving in excess of 4,000 families. Ronald McDonald House South Island receives no direct Government funding. To ensure these wonderful facilities continue to operate in this way we are reliant on public donations, grants and generous corporate sponsorship to help keep our doors open 365 days a year. Your support enables us to provide that crucial ‘Home away from Home’ for families in their time of need, giving them the ability to concentrate on what really matters – helping their child heal.
