Lotus STEMM is a grassroots Not-For-Profit Organization aimed at creating a community for South Asian women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM). While we, as South Asian women, occupy significant amount of space in these fields, & play important roles in our respective communities, Lotus STEMM wants to increase visibility for South Asian women so that the next generation can be inspired and see representation in a variety of roles. We are also working to understand how the two parts of our lives, career and personal, intertwine to make a learning and growth opportunity for ourselves. Our objectives, detailed below, are all aimed at providing South Asian girls/women a platform and space to showcase, improve, and develop their talents. Together, all of us can create the change that we need and want to see. Our objectives: (1) Outreach - To increase accessibility and leadership of South Asian females in STEMM. (2) Networking & Leadership - To provide free workshops and webinars for South Asian women already in the STEMM fields. (3) Research - To understand the determinants of a South Asian woman's career choices, South Asian women's health, and to provide opportunities for new researchers.
