Arras

www.arras.in

ARRAS is a fashion company that takes the responsibility of creating clothing in a non-exploitative system so that our consumers are able to make conscious choices easily. We are founded on the premise that the fashion industry is not just about clothes or how we look in them. When fashion is created responsibly, it creates benefits for everyone along each step of the value chain. This includes the large population of workers involved in textile production (including farmers), indigenous weavers and end consumers, while keeping our responsibilities towards the environment at the fore. Our fabric choices are based on The Environmental Benchmark for Fibres and Life Cycle Assessments including publishing the first ever LCA for Peace Silk- a cruelty-free silk found indigenously in North East India. Arras’s backbone are our women artisans in Assam. We are currently working with 30 such underserved women weavers in Bijoynagar and Boko in Assam, with an aim to make them financially independent and the drivers of change in their respective communities. Our mission is aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with current focus on Goal 5: Gender Equality, Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth and Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
