Good communication doesn’t happen by accident. Particularly in technical teams. It takes time, effort and expertise. Wires Uncrossed is a communications consultancy that gives technical experts confidence to connect with each other and their customers. We teach people how to adapt their communication style, what to focus on when, and the tools and tactics to help them do that. It’s about creating a sense of ownership or belonging by establishing feedback loops and giving people a voice. Clients come to us if they’ve got technical experts or teams that are not speaking the same language and not working well together. They may have missed a deadline on a project or lost a client as a result. Or they’ve set up a new team and they want to get them off to the best possible start. Our initial conversation with our clients is to understand things from their perspective: ‘What is the problem and what outcome do they hope to achieve?’ We interview the key stakeholders to separate fact from opinion and establish the root cause of the problem. Then we tailor a customised education package to improve their communication. There are so many resources out there about how to communicate better. We tailor solutions for clients’ specific situations. That could include workshops, coaching and on-site support. The final part of the process involves embedding our solution to give clients a road map to make lasting changes in the organisation.
