The mission of the Tri-County Cradle to Career Collaborative (TCCC) is to build collective power to transform education by changing systems to allow Black and Brown children to achieve their goals. Since 2013, the organization has brought together a diverse network of parents, educators, other non-profit organizations, businesses, government agencies, and stakeholders to address the persistent and systemic educational inequalities in Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties in South Carolina. The TCCC team and community partners work to close equity gaps at every stage along the educational journey. The vision of TCCC is that all children are embraced by our community as our own and supported to reach their full potential in school and in life, cradle to career. Our community has learned that success happens faster, and more often, when groups are working collaboratively, sharing ideas and driving the work. TCCC is not a direct service provider or funder but is a change agent and leader ensuring equitable outcomes and impact for all youth and families in the region. We do not look at the issue of education in isolation, but rather, we believe the problems in our educational system can best be tackled by collaborative groups representing the community coming to the table as one, providing a nexus of activity between parents, educators, businesses, service providers, and the community. This ensures the focus centers on the whole child, not just educational outcomes.
