Environmental Stewardship is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Texas. Our purposes fall under the following categories: Public Policy - Aiming to protect, conserve, restore, and enhance the earth’s natural resources in order to meet current and future needs of the environment and humans. Science & Ecology - Gathering and using scientific information to restore and sustain ecological services provided by environmental systems. Outreach & Education - Providing environmental education and outreach that encourages public stewardship. Environmental Stewardship (ES) is active in the following areas: 1) participation in the Groundwater Management Area 12 (GMA-12) review of adopted desired future conditions for the Central Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer, 2) participant in the Lost Pines Groundwater Conservation District (LPGCD) permitting activities & Landowners' Appeal, 3) as a member of the Colorado and Lavaca Basin and Bay Area Stakeholder Committee (CL BBASC) Work Group, and 4) as a water conservation advocate to the state legislature and other elected officials. Environmental Stewardship was recently accepted as a WATERKEEPER ALLIANCE Affiliate organization (http://waterkeeper.org/), a group of 300+ national and international water protector organizations, and will be working to build a Waterkeeper Watch Network for the lower Colorado River basin and central Gulf Coast bays.
