Cooley’s journalism experience and contacts in the sports media industry led him to a career and passion in public relations. In 2009, Cooley was hired by Costa Rica International Sports (BetCRIS) as the Public Relations Director, which also umbrellaed duties such as Spokesperson and Odds Consultant. At BetCRIS, Cooley primarily focused on the company’s U.S-facing online sportsbook property, BookMaker. He was hired to fill the same role by Diamond Sportsbook International (BetDSI) in 2017. Cooley works closely with oddsmakers at offshore sportsbooks to ensure the websites’ lines are timely, consistent and publicized. As an Odds Consultant, Cooley has conceived a plethora of props that have become industry staples. Cooley’s odds and PR contributions have seen him featured in major media outlets such as the New York Times, NPR, Forbes, ESPN, FOX, CBS and NBC. Cooley has also served as the Content Director for sports betting properties, managing a team of 40+ content producers. Previously, Cooley covered outdoor sports for ESPN. He also worked as an editor and columnist at Covers.com (Gracenote Sports), covered Stanford football for Scout.com (CBS Sports) and was the Media Relations Manager for the San Jose SaberCats arena football franchise.
